Gearing Up...to gear down!
Hello my Xanga Pals!! I'm so sorry it's taken me so long to get back to writing. It was a busy Spring wrapping up 11 school districts with last minute evaluations, meetings, etc. It's so nice to be on a summer pace with just 2-3 kiddos to see a day...how refreshing!
Lately though we've had some excitement in our house. Last night we found blood in little spots all over the floor and the antique couch. We found the four footed culprit, our precious puppy Tigger...Tiggs for short. It looked as if the groomer accidentally clipped his paw or something. Thank God our vet has after 5 hours at the usual price and that dear hubby was home. We wrapped him up in a towel to save our shirts and the car and took him on to the Vet.
Once at the Vet, we waited 45 minutes to be seen. Poor little Tiggs was NOT excited about the visit as he was just there the week before getting his annual shots and beloved Kennel Cough down the nose medicine -- SUPER YUCK! Not to mention he'd already been to the groomer this past week too...poor little pup! The Vet told us he had a growth/tumor between the pads of his foot which looked like it ulcered to the point of bleeding and recommended surgery on the little guy. We decided to take care of 3 birds with one stone and also had removed a little wart on his back and did the awful dental cleaning procedure they always recommend but we haven't yet done. We kissed him good night and left him in their hands for surgery early this morning.
I picked him up this afternoon and he still looked really groggy. The nurse told me they removed the tumor on his paw, the wart on his back and pulled out 8 teeth!!!! Poor thing! And they say he can still eat dry dog food after all that!!! I got him loaded up in the car but he didn't really perk up until I went to McDonald's...oh he LOVES their fries! Bad news is he can't eat until tomorrow as the anesthesia is still wearing off. My pup is not so young anymore...12 years old which is 84 doggy years! But don't tell him that...he still gets around like a puppy!!
Now onto my news. The Gearing up to gear down stuff. I am having surgery next Tuesday the 24th. I have been hooked up with a specialist who will be taking out my uterine fibroids. It's a blessing in disguise as I have been sick so much the past 8-9 months it's not even funny! Unfortunately, I'm not a candidate for the laproscopic myomectomy (surgery to take out the fibroids) which would mean an outpatient surgery with 2-4 day recovery. No, instead I get the abdominal incision, 4 days in the hospital (with clear liquid diet! Oh JOY!) and a month's recovery! I call this surgery the C-Section MINUS the baby!! (I'm believing for 2-3 week super healing by FAITH method!!). And yes, I will still be able to have kids after the surgery! My surgery will be at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe as that is where the specialist is.
So with the upcoming surgery, I've been busy cleaning out a closet and putting only comfy clothes, etc. in it, seeing all my summer school kids, and wrapping up a variety of little projects, clearing out clutter, and just prepping me and the house for me not being able to go up/down stairs, bending over to touch the floor, etc., etc.
I'm bummed because I will miss out on VBS at the church, two beautiful weddings and who knows what else! The idea of not hopping in the car and going to get Starbucks or run an errand, etc is almost maddening to me. My good friend Amy, who is also a lawyer, has set me straight with many reasons why I will not sneak into the car to go run through a drive thru, with the main reason being that I may not be able to stomp on the brake fast enough to stop for a child/dog who happens to run out in the street! (Thanks Amy...I think you successfully have crushed any desire for me to sneak out of the house and go driving on my own!!)
The blessings in all of this is having my Dia (step-mum) come and visit for about a week...one always needs a mother around when they're sick! AND getting my immune system stable again. I'm currently taking yet another month long bout of antibiotics and am so tired of it I have to work VERY hard to remember to take the durn things!
So please forgive me for the long, long post...I just covet your prayers next Tuesday for my surgery and for my speedy recovery. There's a good chance that I'll be plenty bored....so I will try to be a better blogger while I'm "tied down"!!
Blessings to you and yours!

Your puppy is 12...which means the puppy is older than you! Ha!
@Romans_837 - Hahahaha...very funny Romans!
@libzsonshine - Yeah, leapling jokes don't get old...at least not three years out of four!
@Romans_837 - So true! But I'll always be younger than all my friends...you see I HAVE found the fountain of youth!
@libzsonshine - Yeah, but if parents decide (and act) to make a baby anytime outside of May/June of a year before a leap year, the rest of us are born to grow old.
You will be in my prayers as will puppy! If there is anything you need just holler, I have a lot of experience with hospital visits and the like!!
You will be in my prayers, Libby. The surgery sounds very similar to what Marisol had done (C-section minus the baby). I don't think you are going to want to do any escape runs - at least not in the first three weeks. I am glad you have a friend there to talk some sense into you.
(They didn't have a "Praying For You" mini - so I guess this mini is in honor of Tiggs.
)
hahah... cute fries mini! Hey Lib... we'll have to play some online scrabble together to pass the time for you. Or I could come and play some in person.... I'm also a pretty good rummy player! We'll be out of town during your surgery but back by the 28th (when you'll be heading home). I'll be praying for you and I'll check in with you again when we get back home. I believe this is going to be the beginning of your breakthrough for health and a family. Love you!!
Good to hear from you Libby!
I will be praying for you and take it easy during recovery so you can recover quickly.
My puppy, Toto, is 13.
Blessings!
Karen

@angiewashington - Oh I love the mini!! Xanga does need a praying for you mini! Maybe we should start a petition!
@briansbabe94 - Dear Beth, thank you so much for your prayers and FAITH!! I stand right along with you on those!! I may take ya up on all the games...online and off. You're a doll! Thanks!
@DorkyandToto - Thank you, thank you for your prayers. I know I need all I can get!
Libby,
We will keep you in prayer. Everything is going to be alright. You are in good hands with Jesus. Tiggs is a very cute doggy.

Cathy
You have been on my thoughts. I have been praying for you.
I have been watching some of the GOD TV outpourring healing gatherings from FL.
There is a lady that has been reminding me of you.
Thanks for your update.
I did not see this as a long long post.
Take Care. Peace to you.
P.S. Your Tiggs reminds me of our Misty.
@SavedByGrace65 - Thank you so much Cathy! Thank you so much for your prayers and help with my precious Kovenant Kids! You're a gem!
@Journaling_Susan - Suzie!! Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers!! Someone who reminds me of you...very interesting! Thanks for stopping by!
P.S. Your Misty must be as cute as my Tiggs!
Ouch on all accounts but after the surgery, just like your puppy, you will feel so much better ( a little groggy). No doubt McD Fries will make it all better! I'm also available with Beth for Scrabble, Rummy, or anything to help you pass the time.
Yikes! Doggy issues and surgery! Bless your heart. I will be praying. I hope the surgery cures it all. When my brother was in Medical School, on the South Side of Chicago, fibroids were known as "fireballs of the universe" by the local folks.
("Doc! Ah got them fireballs of the universe! Ah jes know ah do!") So get those fireballs removed! For goodness sakes. Also, just FYI, "Screaming Mighty Jesus" = spinal meningitis.
New culture in Medical School!
Not to mess with your friends' good advice and all, and I know she is right, but I have to say that I had 3 C sections and was up and functioning really quick--hey with babies, you have to be. Yes I was tired, but what new mom wasn't? I healed very well--was driving in about 6 days after the 2nd one (was in the hospital for 4 first anyway). I don't remember after the last one how soon I drove but I would guess it was the next week. Not far, but to the Pediatrician for baby's first check after discharge. So, don't panic. MOTHERS and WOMEN can do anything. I also drove myself the hospital when I was going to have a bouncing baby appendix, though, too. I was at work--we had one car--too far to go get hubby, so someone else brought him to the hospital and I was already there. Freaked out my Dr, and he actually drove behind me thinking I might collapse. He didn't know me very well.
I'm BECKY and I am pretty stubborn and independent at times. Most times, I would guess!
I strolled into the Admitting and told them why I was there, and they were pretty stunned. I have that affect on people! I'm just stunning!
I would recommend you tell your family you are helpless, however, and must remain in bed, reading, watching TV, and relaxing. The less they think you can do, the better off you will be! And SLEEP! Without a baby coming home, you have no excuse not to sleep all night, take naps, and then sleep some more. And have wondrous snacks brought to you.
We expect reports as soon as possible! Be healed, in Jesus' Name!!!
Expecting you to heal quickly---in the name of Jesus. Those Drs are going to be amased at how quickly you bounce back and recover!
@daniel6pack - Hot fresh Mickey D's French fries makes everything A-ok!! Thanks...I may take you guys up on it!!
@BeckyOR - I totally agree with your last paragraph!! Smile! Your stories are all very encouraging! Thanks so much for all your prayers!
@Lynnflo - Thanks for your prayers!
Thanks for your reply.
About your Tiggs,
Your Tiggs and our Misty could be twins. They look some much a like.
Misty is no longer with us. I cannot remember how long...
It was back in the 1980' s when we first got her.
About people who reminds me of other people,
I have caught on to this. It is there are a reason.
I have to remind myself to pray for that person when I notice it.
Blessings, Take Care.
